Ancora un tassello per comporre una parte del “puzzle” che formerà il grande progetto di Ferrovia Turistica della Valbrenta e del suo treno storico a vapore, ideato da SVF e ceduto al Comune di Cismon del Grappa. Giunte dalle officine DB di Meiningen le sale ricerchiate della 880.001, dato che in Italia non esiste più nessuna officina in grado di effettuare una simile lavorazione su ruote di diametro 1.510 mm, come quelle dell’880. È dalla fine degli anni ’60, forse prima metà degli anni ’70, che un’operazione del genere non veniva svolta su locomotive a vapore FS o ex-FS, eccezion fatta per la 640.122 del Museo Ferroviario Piemontese, le cui sale motrici subirono la ricerchiatura ad opera delle officine ferroviarie di České Velenice (Repubblica Ceca) all’inizio dello scorso decennio. SVF ha voluto garantire alla 001 il massimo della durata negli anni a venire, con lavorazioni eseguite nel rispetto degli elevati standard qualitativi attuali e delle sempre più stringenti normative in materia di sicurezza ferroviaria.
Another tile to compose the part of the “puzzle” of the great project of the Valbrenta Touristic Railway and its steam train, a project designed by SVF and donated to Cismon del Grappa Municipality.
The wheel-sets of the 880.001 engine with their new tires returned from DB workshops in Meiningen. The German workshop did the work since no Italian workshop can perform any more such a work on wheel whose diameter is about sixty inches like those of the 880 class engines.
This kind of work has not been performed on an FS or former FS steam engine since the late sixties/early seventies except engine 640.122 belonging to “Museo Ferroviario Piemontese@© whose wheel sets were rebuilt in the Czeck České Velenice workshops.
SVF wanted to ensure to its 001 engine the longest possible lasting in the future years by means of works done following the highest current quality standards and the increasingly more stringent railway safety regulations.
